O Holy Spirit, breathe anew,
hear my cry of desperation
and with Your sword of truth, remove
my wayward inclinations.
Come trace the Serpent through my flesh,
uncover all my evils:
my guilt that merits endless death
and spurns the blood of Jesus.

Oh lead me to my Saviour's cross:
the nails, blood and anguish
and grant me faith to see Him crushed
beneath all my transgressions.
Enfold me in His dying love,
and raise a new affection
to crucify my selfish lusts
and live His resurrection.

Oh lead me to the heart of Christ,
so full of tender mercy,
and in my heart let faith arise
that He will surely save me.
Within myself I find no peace
that I can be forgiven,
for He alone can bring relief;
His grace is all-sufficient.

Oh lead me forth in holy war
to kill the sin that slays me,
take captive every false desire
and pierce them for Your glory.
O Holy Spirit, breathe anew —
complete my re-creation!
And with Your sword of truth, remove
my wayward inclinations.
